Rev. John W. Harmon was born October 11, 1944 to Mrs. Annie Ruth Harmon. He is the oldest of seven children, three brothers and three sisters. Rev. Harmon is married to the former Sylvia Jean Moore and is the father of three children: Carol, Johnny and Mark. He has two grandchildren. He is a member of Broadway Baptist Church where he was Licensed and Ordained. Rev. Harmon is the Pastor of Mt. Enon Baptist Church in Evans, Georgia. The church motto is: "Rebuilding For Christ". Rev. Harmon is a graduate of Lucy Craft Laney High School, Augusta Area Technical College. Rev. Harmon is a graduate of American Baptist Theological Seminary, Augusta Extension. He has received a Certificate of Christian Training and a Diploma of Theology and continues to work for his Bachelor of Theology Degree.

Rev. Harmon is active in the community and seeks to may an impact on it. Rev. Harmon along with the Deacons Ministry carry the Holy Communion to the homes of the sick and shut in. During his leadership the church has had continued growth in membership. Several Capital Projects have been implemented such as a new Handicap Ramp, Cushioned Pews, Improved Electrical Wiring in the Fellowship Hall and Installed a new Church Sign.

Mt. Enon now has a Youth Ministry Program, and is responsible for several workshops on Christian Education. Rev Harmon participates with the Youth on Outings such as Bowling, Fishing and other activities with the Church family. Mt. Enon Baptist Church is A Small Church But With A Big Heart.

Rev. Harmon organizational affiliations include Vice president of Beech Island Credit Union for the last 20 years with assets totaling 4.2 Million Dollars. He is a member of the Columbia County Ministerial Alliance and the Baptist Ministers Conference of Augusta. He is working with The IMANI Group to establish The Rights to Passage Program for young men and women at Mt. Enon Baptist Church.
