Mount Enon Baptist Church was founded and organized in November of 1869 by Rev. Ben Gardner, Rev. L.H. Hawthorne, Rev. John Williams, and Bro. Gilbert Clinton, Sis. Lucille Clinton and Sis. Rose A. Marshall. The Church's structure was destroyed by fire on two occasions. A great deal of the Church's recorded history was lost and members of the early church recreated the history based on their own recollections and research.

Being loyal members, they gathered under brush harbors to worship as well as keeping their faith and praying through many struggles, trials and tribulations. They settled on the region of land wherethe Church stands today. It was then agreed by all that they would assemble for worship on the fourth Sunday of each month.

During the past one-hundred and thirty (130) years, Mount Enon has been blessed with eleven (11) pastors; Rev. A. Walker; Rev. T. M. Robinson; Rev. Wilson; Rev. C. S. Watkins; Rev. I. M. Taylor; Rev. C. L. Moore; Rev. H. W. Phinizy; Rev. T. H. Glasker; Rev. A. C. Brown; Rev. James Dunn and our current Pastor, Rev. John Harmon. During these years, Mt. Enon has ordained several Ministers and Deacons.

Since the installation of Rev. John Harmon, we implemented our first Bible Study November 4, 1999 (which is conducted every Thursday night from 7:00 p.m. - 8:30 pm) and only good things followed this accomplishment. We have since become a full time church conducting 11 a.m. services on 2nd, 4th and 5th Sundays and 8 a.m. services on the 1st and 3rd Sundays. Just in the year 2000 we added 15 new members and as of October 7, 2001, 17 new members have been added. In addition, A Quarterly Communion for Sick and Shut In Members as well as a Candlelight Communion was established. Another attainment was the development of our Web Page as we decided to use current technology to further our work for Christ. Other additions have occurred, but none as great as our establishment of the Department of Educational Ministries which includes our Conducted Choir Worship; Conducted Rights of Passage Training for Youth Ministry Team Members; Youth Ministry and the New Member Orientation.

These are just a few things that Mount Enon achieved in Jesus' name. We have been "Rebuilding for Christ" and we now want to extend our hand to you for the opportunity to "Come and Grow with Us through Christ".
