From the Pastor Desk Letter to New Members

As we look to the future we see a change in the concepts of the traditional church. We are just at the beginning of learning how to manage changes in the church and the community of its membership. Our communities are changing due to the influx of different cultures and backgrounds. We have a new challenge of appealing to those cultures, having systems in place to address theirs needs, and relating to today’s non-churched environment.

History of Mt. Enon Church

Mt. Enon Baptist Church was organized in November of 1869. Because the Church structure was destroyed by fire on two occasions, much of the recorded history of the Church was lost. However, members of the early church recreated the history based upon their own memories and research.

Before the church was organized, the Afro-American and Caucasian Christians of this community worshiped together at Abilene Baptist Church in Evans, Georgia. After the Afro-American population of this community grew to a large percentage, they made a decision to organize a church of their own.
